Moose and Caribou Hunting in Newfoundland
Rock Camp Outfitters base of
operation is located in Southwest Newfoundland, just a short
distance from the Nova Scotia Ferry. Rock Camp
Outfitters has two camps of operation. One camp is
referred to as Rock Camp and the other is Lost Valley.
Rock Camp
Each cabin of the
main camp consists of a comfortable
woodstove, electric lights, propane range and indoor
washroom complete with shower. The number of hunters per
camp is
limited to six per
week. This helps insure a more enjoyable hunt. However,
exceptions can be made depending on the situation.

Lost Valley
The Lost Valley camp is a drive-in camp. It is located
in Area 19 and can be accessed by Argo. The camp can
accommodate three hunters per week. The camp is
staffed with a cook. The sleeping quarters include a
common sleeping room with three bunks, and an outdoor
washroom. Hunting for moose, caribou and black bear
can be done from Lost Valley Camp.
Things to bring:
- Personal Effects
- Sleeping Bag
- High quality rain gear
- 12"-16" rubber boots (laced at top)
- Rubber boot repair kit
- Camera and binoculars
- Rifle (40-300 yards)
- Shot Gun (small game is abundant)
Weather conditions can vary with day
temperatures reaching above 25º C or 80º F and night
temperatures dipping well below freezing, so come prepared.
RAIN GEAR AND RUBBER BOOTS ARE A MUST!
Rates
include:
- Float
plane or helicopter transportation
- All food
and lodging services
- Guide
services (1 per hunter)
- Complete
care and transportation of trophies and meat
Additional
Notes:
- License
applications will be mailed or faxed upon request.
They are to be returned with required deposit.
Associated maps and instructions will be sent upon
receipt of deposit.
- All
deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable.
- Baggage is
limited to 60 to 70 pounds per person due to flying
regulations.
- Hunters
are to bring soft cases for their guns.
Hard cases present a problem with flying to the hunting
camp in the float plane or helicopter.
